Headgear inspired by this guy.

We are having a contest for our fans.

In discussing the next episode of our podcast, we have decided to review one installment of the Silent Hill series from all of our points of view. We can’t decide on the game to play, though, so we are going to the masses.

In the comments here, leave us your vote for the game with a quick paragraph or two to explain why you chose that chapter. Saturday we will choose a winner, featuring a review of their suggested game. We will also be sending out a collectible to the winner: One of five limited-edition Pyramid Head inspired fascinators. The others will be going in to the collections of Whitney, MonkeyX, SilentEvil, and myself.

Start writing, guys!

I suggest Silent Hill 4: The Room

    Why?
Well, SH4 is the first SH that stepped a little far from all the others. It changed a lot of things, showing us new types of enemies and puzzles, a different atmosphere and gameplay. It was the last Team Silent’s episode before leaving the franchise and many SH fans were dissatisfied with the game. A scary game, with a good plot and disturbing images, but a little misunderstood. It’s not my favorite one, but I think SH4 left some questions that need more answers.

It’s funny how you left this comment at the same minute as I did. And you have almost the same content =)))

Great minds think …. that SH4 needs some explanation. Or they think alike. Choose what you will.

Silent Hill 4! Because it’s the most controversial of all “Real” SH games and MUCH BETTER than any of the crap that we had after it. SH 1, 2, 3 have already received too much attention and discussion, so I vote for SH 4!

it seems like everyone wants silent hill 4 as the review i would have to agree because even though silent hill 4 is considered being step down from the rest of the SH series it should still deserve a review because i have not seen many reviews for it over the internet only for the first 3. The other reason is that i think it still deserves credit as a silent hill game its not as bad as silent hill homecoming just taking stuff from the movie, silent hill 4 is more original than homecoming and thats what you want with a silent hill game and thats how it should be “originality” not something we’ve seen before. Lastly there may have been many flaws with the game but it should still be given more credit it has a better plot than 5 because there is less predictability and i think it was just a misunderstood silent hill game.

I’m actually on the fence on this one. I actually wouldn’t mind hearing The Room being picked apart, as it seems to be one that’s easily dismissed because it escapes the standard Silent Hill storyline. However, I think I would have to go with Silent Hill 3.

Silent Hill 3 is by far my favorite game in the series, as it brings new life to the original. It wasn’t until recently that I sat down through the bad graphics, and beat the first Silent Hill, and after playing through it, I began to notice just how well Silent Hill 3 was done.

Rooms are virtually the same in SH3 from the original, from Lakeside Amusement Park to Alessa’s room, the similarities between the first and the third game are stunning. More so than I ever knew, which made revisiting the original game so much better.

It may be overkill with the movie on it’s way, as it’s bound to come up in conversation, but picking apart the underlying themes of Silent Hill 3 sounds like a winner to me.

    If not, SH4 will do.

    Maybe Silent Hill Origins:)

I believe you guys should play Silent Hill Homecoming. I’m a huge Silent Hill fan and this game (to say the least) frustrated me to the point where I was in my own silent hill hell just because I couldn’t get past half the game. The incomplete game has sat on my entertainment center collecting dust for months and it still pisses me off knowing konami approved this game to be created. I keep telling myself “hmm, I have to anticipate moves and develop a strategic counter on the monster I’m fighting.” I focus more on cursing at these indestructible monsters than I do enjoying the game. Silent Hill Homecoming is the most realistic Silent Hill to date. Why? Because the developers made me experience my own personal hell of guilt and very vulgar language alas my Silent Hill.

Now I will counter my last suggestion with a game that I love the most from the series. Silent hill 2. I love this one the most because it has just about every element from the franchise and its all based in the town! From graveyards to prisons to hospitals to the apartments etc. The story was just phenomenal. It constantly keeps you second guessing with whole purpose of being there. The fighting was always fun. The monsters were easy to avoid, conflict, and/or counter. The game wasn’t overwhelmed with monsters either. It constantly kept you wondering why you were sucked into this mysterious town without ruining it with complexed fighting strategies. If you want an all around fub, mysterious,

  8. avatar Erik Jones says:

    * fun, mysterious game… This is the one to keep it interesting. TEAM SILENT FTW!

  9. avatar Silent Evil says:

SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM is, a very underrated game.

A misunderstood masterpiece, perhaps even. I feel it was very ambitious to go outside the norm of the formula established in the series, abandoning the flashlight-in-the-dark, fog and Otherworld transitions. Whether you liked it or not, they were willing to try something new and ya have to give them credit for that. It embodied a lot of the ‘slasher/serial killer’ sub-genre quality of horror and Team Silent did that type of horror well with this game.

I have no idea what a ‘fascinator’ is, but I look forward to finding out. :)
