Silent Hill HD Collection Delayed Till March?

Rumors are coming in saying that the Silent Hill HD collection could be delayed until March. This brings us in a good news/bad news situation. Good new may be that they have found Heather Morris (Voice of Heather Mason in Silent Hill 3) and is signing her off to include both voices in the game. Now the bad news is that it could be a bad idea releasing two Silent Hill games at the same time with Downpour coming out March 6th. What are your feelings on the situation? Please feel free to comment below to share your feelings.

I would hate to no end to have to wait for March to hear the rest of the voice cast I haven’t heard yet (everyone aside from James, Mary/Maria and Eddie >.>; ), but if it would mean SH 3 would get original voices included then I’m all for it. <3 It would be worth suffering an even longer wait for that to happen. I agree that releasing both games in March might not be a good idea though. :O It would be better to release them in separate months if possible, but I suppose if there is enough time between their releases in March it wouldn't matter too much. :3
Unless there’s some dire need to do last minute tweaks, I fail to see the reason behind releasing two Silent Hill games so close together at a time where a new Resident Evil and Mass Effect game will be coming out close by. Gamers aren’t always loaded with money, and in the case of March decisions on which new games to buy will factor into it.
@Smiley: Good point, but I think the people on the Facebook fanpage made a good point. They probably just extended it a certain amount since they don’t know how long it’ll take to get the voices for 3, and if they manage to get them sooner then they’ll probably bring the release date up. Even if they don’t though, they may realize this and make the release date later, because I think I recall reading some sites mentioned it was going to have an April release instead of a March?
Either way though, getting the voices for 3 is reason enough to delay this IMO. It’s funny, had they worked harder on getting the most of the original voices for 3 as well instead of just 2 they could have avoided this problem completely and we would still be getting the games by the end of this month. :/
Tomm Hulett said there’s technical reasons behind the voices for SH3 not including the original set as an option. Unless he was just making excuses, but at this rate I can’t see how they can be included for all retail copies so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. This was going to come out in a matter of weeks which means the discs were ready to print and ship.
Has official word come out from Konami or is this delay still a rumor. Tomm has said January 24th. It’s bad business to delay at the last minute with no public confirmation. Confusing your gamers is one thing though.
March will be loaded with hot games expecting to sell in the millions like Mass Effect 3 and Operation: Raccoon City. They would have a hell of a time trying to sell this HD Collection alongside a brand new Silent Hill in the wake of those other games coming out.
And while I’m sure die hard fans will save for both games, the market will break down and divide between those big hits. So I hope Konami clears these rumors soon.
Yeah I remember him saying there were due to both “logistical and technical reasons”, but I read from somewhere else that it was actually just a case of them not being able to find Heather’s voice actress. (which always struck me as odd, since they worked with her on Shattered Memories O.o) So I dunno. And if the rumors about the delay due to voices from 3 being added are indeed true then that means it was just an excuse, or that they fixed the problem that was preventing it. And that is a good point that they were ready to print and ship, but the original scheduled release date was December 31st, so they’ve actually been ready ever since unless the delay was due to working on it some more or something.
But no, no official word on whether this is just a rumor or true yet. And oh, the date is/was the 24th? Thanks for that, I knew the release had been changed to January but I didn’t know what the new date was. And I agree that it is bad business to have a last minute delay without any confirmation yet.
And yes, I understand all of that. Like I said above you made plenty of good points.
And I agree, I hope they clear up this mess soon.
according to several websites ( like http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/09/retailers-silent-hill-hd-collection-delayed-until-march/) konami has already confirmed the delay, still, no one has stated the reason. I hope it’s due to the voices
I really hope this means original voices for SH3. But I still think it’s unprofessional to extend a release date two months at the last minute, though.
If my memory serves corectly, I believe the “technical issues” that Tom was talking about was adapting the old, original voice recordings to 5.1 surround sound (or whatever the latest audio is), that’s why there was a need for new recordings regardless. Those old recordings may be in the collection but it’s quality won’t be upgraded. That was always my understanding. So he didn’t lie or anything.
As far as it’s delay being considered unprofessional, it’s actually quite common that games don’t hit their target date and when you consider that the very reason for the delay is for fan’s demands (original SH3 recording), I find it odd that fans are complaining about it. These may be problems, but they’re good problems to have cuz we get what we want in the end.
@vincent_Darkwood: I’ve seen, so looks like the delay is confirmed after all. Too bad they haven’t stated the reason yet though, but I’m pretty sure its due to including the original SH 3 voices. At least, I hope that’s what it is.
@Isaac: While that makes sense, they added the original voices for 2 so that still wasn’t an excuse.
They should have just been honest and only gave the real reason, not being able to find Heather Morris, ect. (though, I still say it’s weird she managed to vanish after they worked with her on SM) That makes sense as to why they did the new voice recordings though! I hadn’t thought of that reason before and I had never seen that reason mentioned for it yet but that makes a lot of sense. Though, I still don’t get why they didn’t just re-record the lines with the old voice actors.
I get that Douglas is dead and they were having problems with James, but they should’ve only recasted those and tried to keep as many of the original voices as they could. Problems with a couple of people isn’t enough of a reason to recast EVERYONE IMO. But that’s a whole ‘nother topic. And I understand the quality of the old performances won’t be upgraded, but them being included is good enough for me. And, that is true, games get delayed all the time. And I also agree that when they are listening to us and doing something we want we shouldn’t be complaining. Though, I wasn’t complaining since while I did say it was annoying, I said it was worth it for 3 having the original voices as well. And personally, I don’t think saying waiting ’til March may be a bad idea was really complaining. We were just saying it wasn’t and that it might be better to release the games a bit later or a bit earlier, if possible. And agreed.
And now delayed ANOTHER week to March 20th.
